#8: scrapping idol!

For this stop, Oscraps came with a great idea: scraplift your idol.

But not that simple, you had to stick to these 2 requirements:
1- include a star somewhere
2- include the word DREAM somewhere on your layout.

I chose to lift this layout by Bubaczik because I like the way it is focusing on the photo.

Amanda from Sunshine Studio came up with this funny challenge and a minikit to use:
"Make a layout using everything in the freebie. You may recolor, resize, etc. as long as you use it all in some way."

This seemed like a real challenge for me since the stuff in the minikit is not like the one I am usually playing with, but as we were allowed to recolor and add elements from other kits, I finally managed this layout, which I am quite pleased with!!

The photo is featuring my grandmother with some of her friends.

Challenge #6 at Inspiration Lane

Inspiration Lane challenge was a ROAD BLOCK which means only 1 person can particpate.
Mel is our official poster for this one :)

"You must choose a layout from your partners gallery and scraplift it using the following direction: Take your chosen layout from your partners gallery and flip it either horizontally or vertically. Now take the layout and rotate it 45 degrees. You must use this "new" version as the sketch for your layout. When creating your layout you must use the EXACT same number of items that your partner used in the original layout, no more, no less."

Challenge #5 at Anita Stergiou Designs

Here is our challenge :

"Your challenge for this stop is to create a layout that has no photos on it, but includes at least 3 different and separate photo frames.

Sometimes we have special thoughts, feelings and/or memories about a person or place or event or pet or whatever, but no photos. OR, we could be missing someone who has passed on or something that is no longer in our lives and would dearly love to be able to express that on a page.

Because scrapbooking is all about recording our life journey and that of our family we can still create a page to record and preserve those special thoughts, feelings and/or memories with a little thought and planning and with the creative use of photo frames and journaling (although journaling is not required for this challenge)."

And here is my layout for this one, really a challenge for me not to use any photo!

Redoing an old layout...

... well, as my style has changed and I have more stash on my HD, without mentioning all I learned about Photoshop, I really had a blast redoing this old layout that was one of my first layouts ever and the first one I posted at 3Scrapateers.

Challenges #3 and #4 are on!!

Must say I am happy the 2nd challenge for this week is already revealed: this will leave us plenty of time to meet with the requirements before Sunday, midnight :)

These 2 ones are really inspiring me so I am a bit excited and taking the time to choose all the stuff for these. Without mentioning that the requirements are clear enough to not raise a million of questions...

Here we have:

Challenge 3 at Gotta Pixel:
Find the first layout you created that is still uploaded to a gallery and scraplift it using techniques, trends and concepts that you have learned since you did that original layout.
Rules are to not change the number of photos and to keep the original journaling. Simple.

And the challenge 4 is hosted by Tangie Baxter:
It's an Art and Soul challenge:
-Your layout must have an artistic flair, i.e. including 3 artsy or altered things
- and it has to includes a journal from your soul. Can also be some lyrics or quotes representing what you would like to pass to the next generations or that you've learnt.

Our layout for the 2nd challenge

The Challenge # 2 was hosted by Elemental Scraps:

Cabin Fever
(interpret this as you will, but it must be evident that this is the thought/theme behind your page!)

Must include:
3 photos
4 papers only (no more or less)
8 different elements - at least 1 must be acrylic
2 different fonts
Must have a title, and journaling (which must be visible - if it is not readable, please include in your description)

Wow, this challenge was the first really hard and obviously lead to a lot of questions although the requirements were quite clear... except for the theme: Cabin fever.

Here is the definition given by Wikipedia:
"Cabin fever is an idiomatic term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person or group is isolated and/or shut in, for an extended period. Symptoms include restlessness, irritability, forgetfulness, laughter, and excessive sleeping. The word is also used humorously to indicate simple boredom from being home alone. The term was first recorded in 1918."

Well, after some discussion between Mel and I, we decided to give a try to it interpreting the theme with Mel's cat.

Since it was an intersection challenge, we both had to work on the same layout. I did the papers and elements arrangement (trying to stick to the colors of Mel photos) and Mel completed with the title, the photos and the journaling.

I think it turned out quite great, don't you agree with us?!

Are we ready for Challenge #1?

Don't know for you Mel but I am totally ready to start with this one!

My challenge for you is to
1) Rip and tear a photo into three or more pieces! (that's a photo, not papers!)
2) Use journaling on your layout (something I stress is SO important).

This is a challenge to be completed by both racers.

The prize for this first challenge is a set of templates, how cool is that?!
And Hummie has provided us with some tutorials on how to rip and tear our photos!

So now, off to look for a photo to tear and rip...

Challenge 9 and 10

Challenge 9 was to do an altered layout. This is a very new style to me, but I think this cute photo of my cat Freya was perfect for an ATC.

Challenge 5-8

Whew, they weren't kidding when they called these challenges! I had such a hard time choosing an inanimate object to interview for challenge 5, but finally settled on the one I hate most these days: my alarm clock.

Sabine wanted to scraplift me for challenge #6 (what an honour!) so I kicked back and sat that one out.

And then it was on to challenge#7. Really hard, but it was fun rediscovering items in my stash I had forgotten about (yup, I haven't archived things so that I always know what I have available). And then to find things by different designers that actually go together reasonably well... But it was great fun iun the end, and I like how my LO turned out.

Luckily they went easy on us for challenge #8. I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap. Until it came to the song lyrics part. That had me stuck for a while, but then a bit of a song that would fit perfectly popped into my head, and another challenge is done!

... as I will be away for this long Eater week-end, I put myself under pressure to have these week's layouts done in a short time!

Challenge #7 is a Number crunch challenge at Elementalscraps. Jo came up with 2 different challenges for each member and my dear Melissa agreed to do the journaling one (Mel, you are the best!!).
The requirements first look like crazy, but when I began to take the items in Nina's kits, it quickly turn out to be more funny than it has looked before starting!!

So here is my Messy Festival layout (did I mention it also had to be a HodgePodge layout??)

And Challenge 8 was a lot of fun too: it was posted by Theresa at NDISB, and you had to scrap about your most memorable vacation or trip. Of course, there were a few requirements like: 1/ use only B1W photo, 2/ no travel themed elements or paper, 3/ a ONE word title and last but not least 4/ include lyrics in your journaling.

The most difficult part of it turns out to be to find out the lyrics... I had a huge search before I found some that might get with my pictures. Just love how it turned!

The poor thing grabbing her friend is just me, totally scared because these were some really steep steps... and I am suffering of vertigo. Finally, we both ended up climbing down on our butts, step by step! Although I was not the only one being ridiculous that day, because most of the people were scared!

Done!!! Challenges 5 and 6 for me!

I had a very busy week at work and a tricky internet... So I've been working on these layouts little by little along the week and am quite satisfied with them. Not totally but there's a time when you have to stop yourself from adding a little something here and there. KWIM?

For the challenge #5: you had to interview an inanimate object.

After thinking I could interview my purse, my shoes or my sitting room table, I finally ended up interview the precious wedding garter of my grandmother.
While "doing the interview", I just realized that I didn't know much about how her wedding was like and that it is too late to have her answering (she passed by last year).
I did it any way and now have to ask my mother about the event, if she happens to know a little bit more than me!

Let’s try to learn a little bit more about it…

Can you start by telling us what you are?
I am a garter, Andree’s garter.

What’s your use?
I am an elastic ribbon that you place above or under your knee to keep your stockings in place.

Oh, I see! And why did Andree keep you?
Because I am special to her: I am her wedding garter.

Did you play a role at this event?
Well, I was supposed to be stolen by one of the men attending to the wedding.

Are the colors important?
The blue and the white colors are the symbol of the love, the purity and the reliability.

Did you take part to the game of the garter?
No, Gaston, her husband, would not have let Andree show her legs the very same day of their wedding.

Which state are you in right now?

My colors have passed by a little but I am still beautiful! And what a pleasure to share a bow with the veil of the bride.

Now on to the challenge 6: only one member of the team has to do this one, and Melissa agrees that I scraplifted one of her layouts!

This was definintely not the easiest challenge to do. Just when I think my list is complete, I think of something else and the journaling spacing has to change! But it was fun to do, and I'm sure it would be great to look back in a few years and see how I've changed.

Challenge #3 at Digital Scrapbook Memories

Here is the challenge:
1) Make a scrapbook page about yourself.
2) Fill at least half of the page with journaling about yourself.

I am usually not a great journaler when it comes to scrapping about myself but here I think I did a great job on the journaling part, even if I played also a lot with the different filters in Photoshop to alter my own photo!!

Now, I guess some will ask for a translation in English... ?? Maybe later, lol.

Luckily we only had to wait until Tuesday... The second stop of the race is theDigichick and they have come up with a very interesting challenge.

Here is a summary of the guidelines:
This week is a collaboration challenge. You need to work together to create a single layout. Each team member is responsible to create half of the page.

I've never done something like this before, but I'm sure veteran racer Sabine will have some excellent ideas how we should approach the challenge.

I'm off to go dream up some ideas of my own...

While Mel chose her DH as her favorite person, I am chosing my sister Sophie.
I could have chosen my lovely nephews and nieces, my parents or my brother, but well, I had to pick only one of them beloved family and thought I had to scrap my sister, because I haven't scrapped her that much til now! And I had those lovely photos waiting...

My first ADSR layout

This is the layout I did for challenge 1.

It contains all my favourites: My DH, the colour blue and some fabulous stitches.
I had such fun scrapping this! The moment I saw the challenge I knew exactly what I was going to scrap and the kit I was going to use. I love it when a page comes together this easily!

I checked quickly this morning, just in case they have posted and... surprise! it was already on the ADSR blog!

Here is a summary of the guidelines, if you want to play with us and haven't registered for the ADSR:
You have to use the template provided, although you can change it a bit to adapt to your style. Then use your favorite color (at least 50% of the layout), share a picture of your favorite person or animal and use the embellishment you prefer, one of them must be repeated at least 3 times on your layout.

I'll probably work on this today because I know my week will be a little bit hectic...
Can't wait to see what Mel will come up with.
